FFS, Dave made a comment about compareing it to saxo, i saw it when i was on my mates pc not logged in too, which is what provoked the comment from steve and then from me, if people didnt stop dreaming that a 1.6 sport will beat or even stay with a vts then the arguements will stop.

End of the day, strip a vts out and put a filter and exhuast on it, then see who wins cant compare two cars with different mods  Pathetic

what people also need to remember is a lot of vts or 106 are people who have had tuned corsas, rob unless im mistaken had a corsa with inlet so has experienced both and is in the best position to comment
i could name others too.
i myself have had a 1.6 corsa and the 106 would kill it to 60, and piss all over it above 80

Exactly, and im sorry i really wish it did, but my corsa with the inlet on and all the other engine mods, could not keep up with a vts at all

I do understand Dave's point though, the power delivery on Steve's car is good, his torque curve is great.
But no, I don't think it would.

Yes thats true, im suprised the vts's only made 120 bhp, yet a vtr off sax-p went there and with a manifold and exhaust he got 112 bhp so only 8 off a vts

Hope you dont mind me putting my opinion in here.
I have no reason to back Dave up met him once spoke to him a few times.
My car went to the rollers on Saturday after the Focus and Astra and the figures were spot on. Mine got 168 at 7500 with a live map and will be going to Dave to get a few niggles ironed out later this week.
I find him helpfull and willing to give advice when required. The argument re what is quicker and specification is a very old one and will never go away, but the main point you are missing is its all down to the driver.
On my last event i won the class from 22 cars including 106 GTI ,Civic , Pug 205, Novas etc with a standard engine on TBs.
There is a guy who competes in my class in a 106 with cup cams,ecu and good suspension and he kicks my arse every time because he is a better driver as my car has very similar spec but it doesnt mean i would beat him.

I made a simple claim, that steves corsa was faster than a vts we had in for work at Vsport.
heres some facts:
the corsa made only 6bhp less than the saxo
corsa made more power over a longer rev range
corsa made more torque over a longer rev range
corsa held the power better
corsa had a much better power graph
corsa was lighter
corsa was faster on the road.
I drove both cars, have no reason to be biased towards steves corsa, tell me 1 thing, why would a heavier car with less average power and torque be faster? because it has a vts badge on it
did the people that doubt my opinion drive these cars? no they didnt. simple as that yet they do think that without driving either car or even seeing them they can make a true comparison between them
this isnt about any saxo vs any corsa, my opinion was based on the 2 we had in yeterday on the rollers.
I do see steves opinion, his is far more realistic. Rob-b hasnt got a clue, he bases his opinion of corsas on his old one that was the worst built engine I have seen for a while that wasnt even running right, yet Rob you used to claim it would beat civic type r's and as for making claims then editing the post, I didnt do anything like that, truth is you love to wait for any opportunity to bring up anything about saxos and how no other hatch is as good as it down the strip and round a track, if you are so sure of it why take the bait and make yourself look like a complete dick by trying your hardest to protect and stand up for the saxos abilities.
if its that good, then you dont need to shout about it at every opportunity, just take off the saxo tinted specs for a minute and realise this a CORSA forum, nobody is attacking you or your car, no need to be so defensive.
