When I eventually got through to the service manager my call was the 1st he had heard about it.

No appology yet. Ive got a feeling there wont be one either & they will try to cover it up or blame me somehow.

Even if you had done a track day in it the brakes shouldnt be leaking full stop. Unless they pointed out a fault in the last service that would need doing soon or something but even then

For a prestige marque, BMW's always seem to have something go wrong with them.

Alternator on Dad's M3.
Rear windscreen elements on Dad's 530i.
Footwell sensors in Dad's 120d.
Door seal on Dad's M3.
Leaky water pump on my MD's 645i.
Whole engine on Sales Managers 530d.
This on yours col.
Headlight on Jambo's.

I had to replace the engine and turbos. Then rebuild the new engine.

But it's better than ever at the moment Horses are just as much trouble, only in different ways from what I gather.

Should have bought a Punto. Only thing to go wrong on my car is the horn stopped working and I broke the book lock by shutting it when it was latched

All warranty work

I'd probably take the M3 with a few probs here and there though

I know an alternator might do a bit more work on an M3 due to all the computers and stuff, but you just shouldn't/wouldn't expect it on an M3. My 97k mile Corsa hasn't had it changed yet. My 12v hasn't had many problems considering the work it has done and its age mind.

It's just shit.

Lets be honest though, most of the parts Deano listed will just be bought in by BMW. Alternator will be made by Bosch or something, other bits elsewhere. Shit breaks, thats how things go.

Mistakes happen I guess, just lucky you weren't gunning it and relying on the brakes at the time.

What sort of mileage did your alternators go?

Im guessing its not covered on warranty

Fucking mugs game cars are. Im seriously thinking I should spend a few grand on a Mk2 Golf VR & another few grand on a charger!!

Thats true Joe, this hasnt been anything asides human error that has failed.

The mini is probably down to BMW buying cheap parts!!

Nothings built to last any length these days, comparing a 1L corsa to a 3.2L BMW is a bit off, theres probably 1000x more techy bits that can be subject to failure!!
