I've got the usual £35 a month job. I think it's a tad on the pricey side, but then My old contracts were less, but included less too. I'd wait and see what happens when the competition goes live...

I've activated it through itunes then had to ring orange to get them to activate my new sim. In the past when I've done it the texts have been instant but not this time. They do say it can take up to 2 hours to come through. Pain cos I need to go out soon

For hotspots you don't need a password. You just type in your phone number then I believe it makes some kind of dial up connection briefly to verify who you are and you're in.

It said in the stuff that came with it they'd text a password for me to use the wifi hotspots for free and it only needs entering once and it'll remember it for future use. Everytime I've tried to connect to a hotspot it asks for the password that I don't have.
Like I say it won't connect to my dads wifi either even though I entered the right password! Using it on mobile web at the mo so

Your dad's wifi isn't orange is it?
You have to press some button on the orange box to pair it with the phone.

Phil/MWG,
not sure if your aware, but you dont have unlimited data usage. Hidden deep in the T&Cs of your Orange Contract is:
quote:
Inclusive Mobile Internet - Mobile internet browsing applies within the UK only. Any use outside the UK will be charged at the relevant international rates. Mobile Internet browsing does not include event charges such as for ringtones or games (transport costs for these events are included). Fair Usage policy of 750MB applies. Not to be used for Internet Tethering (e.g. using your handset as a modem - separate Tethered Data bundles are available). Should you exceed this limit or if such use is detected, notice may be given and Network protection controls applied to ensure the quality and availability of our network to all customers. This may result in, at Orange's discretion, reduced speed of transmission, suspension of mobile internet browsing services and/or suspension of your account.
Why these companies cannot be open and tell customers up front I will never know.

Yeah I knew it wasn't strictly unlimited, it said on the orange tariff page unlimited actually meant 750MB. Doubt I'll get near it as have wifi at home that I've got working now so I guess I would download most of my apps at home. It was just the wifi at my Dads that didn't want to know Still not had this password through to use the BT Openzone hotspots, going to have to ring them about it

So as a contract which is better? Orange or O2?
Prices are about the same

Well the 3G coverage is meant to be better on Orange and generally where I live Orange signal is better than O2. So I guess it just depends what its like where you are

Make sure you're pressing the 'shift' button after every letter you push. (on the phone)
Sounds daft, but still
