I think it was closer than some are suggesting. We were mightly close to losing the first test, blew them away in the 2nd but they would've won this one.

We'll win the series overall though i reckon, so not saying we dont deserve it.

Well that was a bit of a pez way for us to retain the Ashes
Shame the series is pretty much over too, should still be some cricket but its not the same when there isn't as much riding in it.

I think they might rest Harris now, they'll need him in Aus and he's notoriously fragile. Little story, he pro'd in our league a few years ago and last week paid a visit to his old club for the evening, nice gesture I thought.

We should pick Onions as a horses for courses selection at Durham IMO, that'll be harsh on Bresnan who has done well but the Durham pitch should be perfect for him, Anderson should like it too.

Yep, i can see Onions in for Bres for the Durham test.

Proper anti climax though. England will still want to win the series out right though and I'm sure Aus will still want to tie it to prove some people wrong. Hopefully still some good cricket ahead

Disappointing to see no Onions. Nice steady start though, hopefully rack up around 350-400 to set up a decent match

The trott one was shocking. Just a really poor shot. They reckon the pitch is slower than the batsmen are thinking which is causing trouble.

Haven't seen the other dismissals, despite it being my day off

Boring, slow, predictable Trott is the only one who look any good today. The rest have been woeful frankly

Well this is shit, although managing to bat really slowly and still throw your wicket away is quite an impressive feat.

England's batting has been pretty scratchy for a while, it was poor in NZ, not much better against them over here and it's been average at best this series.

Well, that went to shit didnt it

When Jimmy Anderson is your joint 5th highest run scorer you know its been a dodgy day

Our batting has been shite, like you say Dave, wonder if this will be abnother case of bowlers bailing them out.

Interesting to note though that Durham average pretty much bang on 250 here. Though Yorkshire did successfully chase 355 here, getting all out for 177 in the first innings

It's just such an annoying lack of concentration. Credit to Australia, they are proving that you don't need to bowl wonder balls to get people out, you just have to consistently bowl enough good balls, string maidens together and wait for the batters to slip up, which we are certainly obliging with. When a bowling unit is doing that though you counter by looking at the gaps and pushing ones, quietly tick the scoreboard over until the bowlers lose patience, then you start getting your boundary balls again. Whatever the tactics, losing 4 wickets on the first day to a spinner who hasn't turned one is poor.

I fear not picking Onions is going to bite us, I'd have picked him over Broad, Bresnan could well prove to be our most effective bowler on this if he bowls full enough, don't think it'll suit Broad at all.

Awesome start! Broad 2-8 This Durham pitch is a low run scorer.

This Umpires call in DRS is a load of shit, it should be scrapped, they use the same tech in Tennis and if a line judge doesn't call the ball out and a player reviews, if hawkeye shows it as being out even by a millimetre its given out, it doesn't stay with the line judges calls just because it was close

Difference to tennis being you can 100% say where a ball has landed, in cricket its predicting its movement towards the wickets. Even the inventors of Hawkeye say it isnt 100% accurate, thats why anything hitting leg or off stump has to go with the umpire.

At what point is goal line tech PREDICTING a balls position?
