i was looking at getting a tablet to replace my laptop as its a bit battered
will only use it to watch a few films and browes facebook and cs.
anyone got or experienced the archos 101?

iPad 1
no good for watching films unless you want to pay for them or can be bothered to convert. great for borwsing

If your jailbroke just download VLC and add all AVIs etc and then its ace. I had loadssss on mine

Sorry to ask what might be a dumb question, but are you guys saying you need to modify the ipad before you can install a decent media player?

i'd go for the motorola xoom if i was
£250 tops
had a play with the archos 70 today and i like that!

Im waiting for the Flyer and Playbook before i part with cash.
Playbook will be the sensible one for me no doubt. but fancy an ipad.

Playbook won't be 3G and is 7" so although it looks the best OS IMO I don't think it will be practical.
That said am I ever going to take it out and about?

Added expense Ash but I suppose your right. Annoying carrying a box and remembering to charge etc.
iPad is alluring as it's excellent but it will be mainly used for Internet and no flash poses a huge disadvantage. A mate mentioned Skyfire though?! Apparently turns flash into HTML5

You would have the expense of an additional sim and contract if it had 3g too.
I had iPhones since the original and this iPad for a couple of weeks and can't say ive once noticed the lack of flash, maybe I just don't use websites that use flash.
Not heard of Skyfire but there are lots of ways around it if it bothers you that much. Was watching Rambo on ITV3 on it last night in bed, whilst switching to ebay and CS during the breaks, amazing really.
