Got a slight shake on the car when braking (light & heavy)! Had both discs skimmed a while ago when the brakes were on Kerrys GSi. Didnt seem much better after they were skimmed tbh. Now they are on my 1.4 van & still the same!!!
Have had both wheels off this evening & Dial Gauged the discs & there is a bit of warp but just wondered if anyone know the tolerance
i.e: when are they in need of a skim > 0.001, 0.004, 0.010 etc?

If it's the caliper sticking, you need to take it apart and copper slip it up. Back of the pads, sliders and where the pads sit in the caliper.

Even if the caliper is sticking your still going to need new discs. No point fannying about getting them skimmed.

Personally I'd get new discs, new pistons and then rebuild the calipers. IMO Brakes are definately worth having working 100% all the time!

my car does that a bit when braking hard, but it doesnt really bother me, the car is getting a big makeover in the summer and i'll probably change to v6 brakes anyway!
but if its bothering you too much just get new calipers and disks, like gunzi said its definately worth having your brakes being 100%, instead of repairing them when they begin to deteriorate

rear drums have been removed and checked and new shoes fitted
doubt it would make the car shake to be honest

Course it would, same as warped discs would. You can't visually check if they are warped unless your superman.

The shake is coming from the front. Tried the pulling handbrake on whilst driving trick & they are shake-less!
