Parents car has an intermittent fault. Sometimes won't turn over when clutch pedal depressed. Works fine when at eventually starts, sometimes takes 10 minutes! Any ideas? Main dealer couldn't find an issue, but as said is intermittent.

Is a 2007 reg, thanks

I'd try asking in the no car chat section of a non-related car forum

I guessed at the switch, had look earlier. Visually it's fine, but could be damaged internally I suppose. I had a Google, but couldn't find anything. Thought somebody on here, may have heard of the issue. Obviously too much to ask from some, as seemed to have got them a little excitable

It'll be an internal fault on the switch, won't be visible externally, seems to be a common problem on Yaris and corrolas which use the same system.

Neutral safety switch? I've found a switch on clutch pedal itself, in assuming it was that one. Identical to how brake switches look on Vauxhall cars

Yeah there's two a neutral safely which does what it says on the tin makes sure it's in neutral and the clutch one makes sure the clutch is pressed before starting both are common, just need to suss out which one it is

If thats what you suspect is wrong it may be worth getting it on a scanner as there may be a fault stored. Also you will be able to see the switch operation in live data and that will confirm if its faulty.

No fault codes stored unfortunately, can't really check on live data as its intermittent and its mums cars not mine
