Having to crack the exercise bike back out this week of the weather stays bad. Can't be bothered cycling to work in gale force winds really.

I would prefer the 6 or 5 seater one really. It's nice looking though.

A friend and I have decided to buy a couple of mountain bikes at the end of this year. Know next to nothing about it but looking forward to picking up a new hobby!

Any suggestions on where I should be looking to buy a bike, or suggestions on an actual bike itself?

Depends where you plan to ride and what you want to ride xc, downhill, or "enduro". How much do you want to spend on a bike? But don't buy a fucking canyon

I honestly have no plan on what I want to ride. I don't know much about biking at all. Not gonna spend an arm and a leg for a first bike. £250-£300 maybe?

my new steed ...Genesis Equilibrium Disc...done about 1000 miles now. Im not a big fan of carbon road bikes so a good quality, British Reynolds steel frame = strength and comfort for the type of long distance stuff im into. Just need to fit some mud guards and its first big outing will be my second go at Lands End to John O Groats in late April. Really loving the bike - probably going to upgrade the wheels to 36 spoke bullet proof jobs for touring but otherwise its pretty much ready to have luggage strapped on and cycle across Britain.

Disc brakes are very nice in the rain plus it can take up to 28mm tyres which are significant faster and more comfy across the crappy roads in this country

Campagnolo Shamal Mille alloy clinchers. They are really nice wheels, I did have some Fulcrum Racing Zeros on my SL4 which is basically the equivalent but looks better on shimano equipped bikes and they gave me no trouble at all.

Supposed to be doing a new year day ride tomorrow but it seems to be all flooded and not sure on the trail conditions itself. Been looking forward to it for weeks. Typical.

Ps, is anyone going to start a cycling 2016 thread?
