Me and the woman shortly after we got the keys.

Attempt at living room panorama. Excuse the camp mate.

Kitchen. Appliances included in the purchase. Washing machine is a 5kg half depth thing. Candy 5kg Holiday

Kitchen pantry. Enough room for 4 seater rectangle table on that wall.

Garden with man cave.

Man cave. Nice blank canvas.

Second bedroom. Enough room for a single bed. Or a nursery as the woman informs me

Bathroom. Needs a good scrub and bit of updating. Nothing major.

Master bedroom with cupboards above stairs. For shoes and handbags. Didn't get angle of other room. Too busy drinking champagne.

Niece after 1 bottle of milk. Lightweight.

First bit of DIY. Doorbell screwed in

Impromptu removal of the fireplace. Decided we didn't like the hearth, so took that out. Decided we didn't like the tiles. Took them out. Surround went. Then we bashed out the fireback and backfill.

Decorating has slowed whilst we create mess. Woman been doing the bedroom whilst I prepped the fireplace for repointing and new hearth. Leaving it open with exposed brickwork for log burner!

Obligatory selfie before I stood in the chimney and swept it out.

Got some more progress pics of the fireplace including breaker demolition action

Staged pictures from the fireplace.

Taking out the remainder of the hearth. Most come up with lump hammer and chisel. Handy your dad has his own breaker

After the tiles come off this is what you're left with. Nice hole over the original arch for smoke to escape if the chimney doesn't draw properly. And judging by the black brickwork, smoke has escaped.

About to take the fire back out. Was back filled with all sorts.

All out.

Decided to expose the arch and have exposed brickwork with no mantle piece.

Me knocking out mortar joints ready for re-pointing. All ready covered. T-shirt was white

Protected as best I could from falling soot.

Joints knocked out.

Today's task was to scrub it and clean it. Brickwork pretty stained from the smoke but I like that!

Re-pointing and new hearth Saturday. Plus prep for making good the plasterboard to complete the following weekend before wood flooring going down.

Fair few updates on the fireplace but haven't sorted the pictures yet. Also ripped out the carpet, underlay and gripper rods today in preparation for the laminate flooring.

Managed to get engineered tongue and groove laminate for £25.99 inc. VAT per sq/m from a local timber merchant.

Also did some drilling today, including ceramic tiles for the new bog roll holder and towel ring!
