Just after some input for any handling problems you guys mightve encountered with a 2.0 16v engine under the bonnet.

My current wheels are 195/50/15 ET46 with Toyo Proxes T1-S tyres which seem good. Suspension is a Bilstein Streetline setup which is pretty new. I understand Ill need new springs for the front, will the dampers be up to the job?

Is the handling seriously affected (some before/after ideas would be cool.)

Cheers peeps

The Corsa shell is quite solid and well up to the job of coping with the 2.0 unit.

Cool, strut brace then?

Does the PVD kit use machined out hubs to take astra CVs/bearings?

Oh and the water pipes...do you need any from the donor car (Astra whatever) or are the Corsa ones OK?

Thanks again.

yes the kit comes with new hubs, and you do need some water pipes from the 2.0

That suspension setup is far from ideal. The dampers are OE spec - good quality units, but not actually uprated, and the springs are Terra - nothing special and not a high enough poundage.

Yeah - Billie dampers are good but Terra springs are sh1te - I had both my front springs crack on me after 18 months use. Eibach springs are worth considering and when I dropped them in, the ride quality and handling was significantly improved.

hmmm bit of a hard one that really.

before I installed the engine I was running 14" x 5.5" steelies on 175/55/14 michelin energy sports.

When I put the engine in, I changed to 15" x 7" alloys running yoko 539's (195/45/15).

The difference these tyres make are unbelieveable. As funny as it sounds the car handles better with the 2ltr in then when it didnt. Purely because of the tyres.

Handling now is fine though. You can rag the car around anywhere you want and it sticks to the road. stuck to the road as good as my mates 205 1.9 gti when I was racing him. Only time you have to let off is at 120mph+ where you get understeer and it feels a bit uneasy on sharp bends (as motorways go)

The front end is heavier but you get used to it and just drive the car differently, make sure you got decent suspension, tyres and brakes and you'll be fine
