Name your budget and go from there although your looking at around 300 + for av receiver that can do hd-bb audio. I have an onkyo 606. There is a newer version but I thinly its great. Defiantly look at only, denon and yamaha if your sun 500 +

Keep an eye out for a onkyo 606 or a denon 1910 they both have newer version meaning that you can pick these up cheaper

I would personally spend the money on buying a better 5.1 then a 7.1

Not that many films are 7.1 and its not a great benefit over 5.1

If you have a decent enough amp, then the extra 2 are just effects anyway

That 1box i posted, kindsa fits my needs really. I want fewer wires and cables etc.
That seems to work perfectly and is currently half price near me £249 for HD surround 5.1 and a bluray player!

You guys need to hear 8.0 Really is amazing!

As above, maybe get a top end 5.1 instead of a lower specced 7.1

I've got the Onkyo 507(5.1), with some wharfedale seperates and a decent sub. Paid around £700 in total but over the last 6 months, so didn't notice it .... too much

I agree strongly with getting a good 5.1 set rather than a budget one with more speakers, very few films take advantage of it - as 5.1 is well established as industry standard... I guess.

Sounds amazing though, and just ordered a new TV to go with it all

Rob that sounds lovely, is the sound/picture decent??

I have the old dvd version of it and it was good but bluray came out 5seconds later so it hardly got used

Now i use it as the amp (SA-PT460) and it just doesnt do dts, so have to run all my blurays in some weird coding that isnt dolby and thus sounds fucking shite.

The picture is superb! Terminator Salvation was the first blu-ray I watched and wow

I'm not an audiophile, I mean standard Honda speakers do me in my car but the sound from this is more than ample for me, wouldn't have a clue how it compares to other units though matey.

IMO the sound quality matches the picture qualiy. I've only got it set up in my bedroom, i should imagine set up properly in a living room it would be pretty damn good.
