I've just started investigating into a DMX controlled setup in my mums lounge. Controller on the wall, multiple RGB lights with dimming/colour change etc and also a music activated feature.
I'm bidding on some bits on ebay at the moment and starting to do some research about wiring/programming, but I'll let you know

Not the best of video's, but my mate has 2 dome lights about 12-15" diameter, which go through different colours. Can be set to the beat of music, change through the colours, or stay on one colour

Was thinking the same, pretty damn expensive and can be a right arse ache to get it working smoothly (make sure you're using 120ohm cable and to terminate if having a big chain) - managed to take out a few martin mac's when i was working a theatre lighting assistant due to dodgy cabling. Plus the only real advantage of the DMX512 protocol is daisy chaining.
Personally i would have stuck with something like X10, cheaper and easy to deal with.....
