Does anyone know any software that will complete erase (or destroy) a hard drive (with random character etc passes)?

Need to send a drive back for replacement and want to completely get rid of the data on the drive (and/or screw it up more if possible).

As Paul says Active Killdisk, or Google for DBAN. That generally works with hardware RAID too

Just smack it against a hard surface a couple of times, that's what we used to do for warranty replacements when I worked for a PC World type outfit back in the days when I were a young lad.
