Just smack it against a hard surface a couple of times, that's what we used to do for warranty replacements when I worked for a PC World type outfit back in the days when I were a young lad.

As Paul says Active Killdisk, or Google for DBAN. That generally works with hardware RAID too :)

yeah it's the one i usually use, but need a windows program as Dos programs don't find my sata drives due to a raid array - had problems with using the dos version of seatools and partition magic and all sorts.

Does anyone know any software that will complete erase (or destroy) a hard drive (with random character etc passes)?

Need to send a drive back for replacement and want to completely get rid of the data on the drive (and/or screw it up more if possible).
