I'm spending a rediculous amount on top-up now and looking at contract phones. On a £30/month contract I can get an N95 for free.

It says it has GPS and other goodies. Is the GPS any good, because it may be worth while spending the £30/month, if I can use it as a sat nav in the car?!

Cheers

considering the advantages of having to carry one device, its very good. But as with most things, its better if you just had sat nav,

And what's the deal with signing up, actually getting it to work as a sat nav? I heard that you have to pay, but don't have to pay, and all that jazz?!

The only thing you pay for is if you use the voice instructions if not it's free. Don't download the maps over GPRS though as you'll pay for this. Download them on the PC and transfer them via data cable. I got the Italy ones and came in handy when in Rome

I've got Garmin satnav on my N95 and it was free from your favourite torrent site. Works really well with the internal GPS as well.

Install the rotateme app as well and I just have it on its side in my spare din slot and its ferking ace. Don't bother with the Nokia Maps as you have to pay and its not as good as the Garmin one.

Tomtom needs a bluetooth GPS as well which is pretty pointless.

ive used a tomtom, which is superb!

ive used the sat nav on my N95 a lot to, but you cant really compare the n95 to a tomtom but for a built in sat nav on a phone it is really good! unless you rely on the sat nav a lot, e.g work/daily basis the n95 is great!

only bad thing is you have to pay for the proper navigation with voice, £50 for 3year licence from nokia, and that the gps signal was hard to lock on quickly and would disconnect if you went under bridge etc lol, BUT the latest firmware update on the n95 has made the gps soooooo much better and faster!

Hmmm ok, cheers

Not sure I'm ready to commit to an 18 month contract yet, as I may not be able to afford the monthly bill in one hit.

Thinking of doing the Pay Monthly SIM only at the moment. You can cancel after every month. The free allowances are much better

The maps are free but pretty useless without the voice when you are driving

There is a text fie in the zip file with instructions?

Here is what is says, just replace the top bit with the 3 files that you should have downloaded. I can upload somewhere if someone knows anywhere thats free?

1. Download from these locations the files

www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3493
www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3645
www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3651

and install them (possibly in this order)
then follow this instructions:

"
2. Launch GMXT, got to Settings -> About.

3. Make note of your "Card ID"

4. Launch the k e y g e n, and enter the "Card ID" you see on GMXT About page.

5. Select Map product and hit the corresponding Generate button to generate both Device & Map unlock key.

NOTE: If your map is not included in the Map product list, select <custom mapset>, enter the corresponding MAPID and hit OK.

5. Copy (CTRL+C) the Device unlock key to clipboard.

6. Now open the Notepad and paste (CTRL+V) the key and save the file as SW.UNL

7. Copy (CTRL+C) the Map unlock key to clipboard.

8. Open the Notepad again and paste (CTRL+V) the key and save the file as GMAPSUPP.UNL

9. Put your newly created files to your SD Card\Garmin directory and restart GMXT.

8. Program should now recognize your built-in GPS (if not go to settings\system and choose "connected gps") and you should be
able to use detailed maps.

NOTE: This keygen is not yet compatible with Garmin MapSource application. To see maps in the MapSource, use the key provided
with the map.

Try these. I'm not sure if there are any seeds because i'm at work and can't access mininova from here.

Try this http://www.mininova.org/tor/1007210

Or http://www.sendspace.com/file/fzi6vv

And this for the maps
