the speed quote that you think you have is an "up to speed" that is rarely acheived, there is going to be a new law that makes internet companies tell you the real speed where you are and not the "up to" speed.

You shouldnt be getting speeds as slow as that on a 8mb connection.

It should show you what speed you capable of recieving.

Might be worth trying the speedtest without wireless just to see if that makes a difference. Could have a faulty router/modem

line can handle 7.5mb. usually runs at about 6mb and has done for ages. and steve, no, its not becuase of that as i live under a mile away from the exchange as oddly there is one in my village.

just rang my mate who is a bt engineer. line is 100% spot on, no faults. he told me to check what speed the router server says it can get, which is 8mb, so its down to demon internet then i assume. i shall ring them now and if i get a call centre i shall just scream there is a bomb in the building and hang up.

according to demon, the unlimited 8mb service is limited to 60gb. wonderful. fuck knows the 60gb worth of stuff thats been downloaded.
