aye aye
got a corsa sport with a c20xe engine in it and after a year o good use a have finally had problems with it!
on the day the problems started a topped up the oil to just below the max and finally noticed teh wee button beside the interior lights and pressed it (never noticed it before - check teh observancy) tis probably not relevant but it might be!
after that a took the car for a run into town and a couple of times the engine light came on and it spluttered and lost power but then it came back. I though nothin of it as it stopped doing it. Was on a run later on that day and it was doing it more consistantly but when a came to a roundabout it just coughed and spluttered and died on me. got her to a lay by and it wouldna start - it turned over but was not bursting into life.
after a wee tantrum a tried it again and it started and then it was fine, no spluttering of nothing! however, later that night a was going along at 60 and it spluttered a few times just as I was coming to the same roundabout...then as a went into second the thing spluttered and jerked then died. wouldna start again... we tried the next day and no fuel in the rail which we then checked the pump and there was no power to fuel pump so hard wired it and got power to it but still not working.
When trying to start the engine light does go off as the rev counter goes to 1000 but will not burst into life. Checked for power in the relay and out of the relay and there is, power to the coil and leads. Does not seam to wanna spark
also - dunno if this is relevant, but we disconnected the negaitve connection from the battery then using a multimeter stuck a prod on the negative terminal of the battery and onto the block and it was reading 12v?
is summit earthin!? sorry for the essay but am runnin out of ideas!
damn vauxhall elecrtics

check all earth as you have said.
Maybe good to read your ECU and see if there are any codes on there.
have you tested your fuel relay is working fine?
