gearlinkage isnt broken, just out of line, reset it and i think his problems will be solved.

tell him ot buy a haynes manual and not be so tight!
need a drill bit to lock the lever in positin, then undo a 13mm bolt on the end of the lever rod, in the engine bay, then select neutral in the first gear plane on the boxand lock it into place by pushing a little yellow knob type spring thing into place, then tighten up the 13mm bolt again..........

Cheers for the help on that guys. I was delivery driving tonight when it happened. So i had to keep on driving as it was for 3 hours. But i have managed to find 2nd some how.
Yeah i have a Haynes manual. Looks like i'm having fun tomorrow.

Well. I've had a look at it and found that the plastic bit that connects to the bit that goes into the gear box has snapped 
So i'm hopeing that my mates linkage is the same so i'll just rob his.
Because i'm in the area i've also bought a quickshift. So i'll be fitting that when it comes. 
Ps. Any tips on how to remove it all before i start pokeing around.
