tuning is NEVER cheap. if you want that sort of set-up expect to pay over 1k and it wont make 190bhp

id doubt highly that would give 180-190bhp. 165-170 ish fair enough.

its not worth tuning an xe that much unless you go for carbs or tb's. the inlet manifold just fucks everything up and will cost shit loads to see gains that wont be as close as tb's or carbs fitted instead

Also depends what sort of power you want.
if its BHP that you're after, tb's / carbs will give you plenty, but higher in the revs - 5k and higher, if you want a nice flat curve, which is power useable on the track/drag strip.
if it's useable street power you want, you need to increase displacement. you need torque in the midrange, meaning you can have power without having to rape your engine constantly near the redline. This is forced induction, as it makes the engine think it's alot bigger. Obviously it's down to how you set it up (turbo size, trim, compression ratio etc) there is then supercharging - pulley sizes, internal workings, etc.
so, basically, if you go for naturally aspirated power, you're always gonna have to work the engine
if you go forced induction, you can enjoy power potentially from low revs.
there is then weight loss, which is by far the best way to gain speed. Glass fibre/carbon fibre everything.

cams, headwork, verniers and a remap will see 165-170 bhp.
ignore claims of over 170bhp without Tb's they are rubbish. Sbd, Qed, Noble Motorsport, Swindon engines NTR and other well respected tuning companies havnt managed it without a custom inlet and lots of mapping, management and other expensive bits.

The c20xe is a funny engine in fairness Iv ran 2 one std and my current one (cams, head work, EDS Chip) and to be honest on the road I can barely tell the difference in them. Id have been better off spending the money I used to tune this engine on having the bottom end lightend and balanced so I can rev it harder when I fit my throttle bodies.
