My mates just ordered one for his first car, i know they got 75ps and 80 someting lb torque which i think is good for a 1.2 engine!!! now he knows it's never gonna be fast or get loadsa power but he's looking at getting it a bit nippier! prob gonna stick on a BMC carbon induction kit (fully enclosed) what's a good full system to go for ? mainly for noise and perhaps release 1-2bhp.
Any other cheap but quite good mods for a bit more poke?

could get a new intake mainfold from dblia's (regal) - for your 1.2 16v, they claim it gives it 15-25 bhp.

I'd rather spend the extra £900 on a 1.4 Sri, or save a bit more and get a 1.8

thing is he's bying the 1.2 2004 corsa c because of free insurance! so couldnt go for higher spec

22ps increase ! that's 97ps = about 94-95bhp! that's good! + exhaust and induction and chip he'll hit the 100 mark in a 1.2! that's if the above claimed figures are correct for the intake manifold

If he is getting the vauxhall 1 yr free insurance, i dont think they will cover cosmetic modifications, let alone hefty engine mods.

Yeah, Vauxhall free insurance generally wont cover any modification of that car at all, then the warrenty side of it, anything you alter completly voids the warrenty in that area. SO for example if he puts a new head unit in then all the car electrics are no longer covered under warrenty.

Dblias said they would offer me a decent price on the intake mainifold - but I had to ask regal???

Haven't followed it up - may email them today and enquire.

gibbs, not the warranty, his 1 years free insurance, as soon as he modifies the car from standard spec, it will become null and void. which is illegal.

in other words, if he wants to modify the corsa, he will have to find an insurance company that will cover the mods.

email sent to regal... not with the same charm as the one I sent to dblia's though - so doubt they're even gonna read it.

Are you 100% sure on this?? As when i had my 1yrs free insurance i rang them up before fitting my induction kit / ecotech valve and 16" alloys, which they did cover, they just pushed my excess up.

I just thought of something...

perhaps the reason they claim it is a 25 bhp increase, is because they thought they're 1.2 16v corsa B was 65 bhp when it was infact 75 bhp!

so it went from say 65 bhp -> 90 bhp... a gain of 25 in their books... but of course if it was 75 -> 90 its only 15 bhp...

still not bad, but thats probably with a chip too.

also everytime he goes for a service or check etc.. it will all have to come off, or the warrenty will also be void.
