I would imagine that mounting is different (more cylinders, wider block)

Also need new clocks

dont talk rubbish.

The car loom is the same as the 1.2 (ECU in engine bay) so will need to be pulled through to the footwell to put any other engine in.

Will need the corsa mounts for the 1.6 and 1.6 corsa drive shafts. thats about it.

oh and as said will need 16v clocks

Thats really nice mate, but deserves something more showy than a 1.6 IMO

Perhaps a XE or LET if its in budget?

Can't really see much point using and xe or let, it's not like its ever going to be driven fast being a show car and all. 1.6 will do nicely imo, good luck with it mate

Depending what model 12v it is, it might have the appropriate clocks. Mines a GLS and they go up to 130mph iirc - if that's what people mean?

Basically there are quite a few things to take into consideration:

The ECU on the 1.0 12v engine is mounted on the side of the engine meaning that the only loom that goes into the car is the 8/9 wire car loom.

This means that you have to get the full engine loom and car loom that goes to the ECU which will need to be mounted into the drivers kickpanel.

The clocks problem is another matter...... most 1.0 12v engines come with electronically driven clocks. If you get a 1.6 gearbox with a mechanical driven speed sensor... then you will either need to purchase a transducer or bust apart the gearbox and change the pickup wheel to the electronic type magnetic pulse.

If you get a 1.6 gearbox with an electrical sender.... you can just swap them between boxes (always wise just incase the other clocks went to 140mph.... all 1.0 12v's only go to 130 iirc).

The other two problems that people hit is the wiring for the fuel pump circuit, cooling circuit and diagnostic connector. It can all be done but it does take some effort as I believe there is no definitive guide unless Beardy ect have made one.

Hope this helps your decision

the speed works but the rev counter will be out
you need 4cylinder clocks for it to work correctly
