Hi Guys.
I currently have a 8" JBL sub in the boot of my corsa, and it takes up a whole lot of space, i love the sound of my sub, but really need the space. Does anybody know how well it works putting a sub onto a parcel shelf? I figure using the parcel shelf as a baffle, and the boot as a sub box would still work, and prevent the sound cancelling itself (im a music tech student) anyone ever tested it?
Cheers.
Rich.

you will need a free air sub for that and a mdf percel shelf to stop the vibration being bad and also run the risk of being broken into as you have a sub on display.

If your courrent sub is mean to be a sealed/ported one you would have to build a box around the sub whilst in the parcel shelf otherwise it will run poo and wont make alot of bass

have just finished doing it:

Sounds alright, not as good as it did in the box, might attach a box to the bottom of it, but still.. more room in the boot and looks damn cool i recon so it's cool for me
I have a blanket over it when it is parked up, so i dont just have a sub on display

I have to be honest with you their mate.
I dont like it and i think over time the shelf will start sagging in the middle.
You could have made a custom box and fitted it into a corner in the boot

as i said, MDF shelf, and then build a box around it.
that will droop down in time.

I keep a blanket over it when im not in it I just made a wooden parcel shelf, so it sounds a whole lot better, before the flexy parcel shelf was just acting as a massive diaphram, and it all sounded shit, sounds quite a lot nicer now, and it's cool being able to see it bopping around in my mirror.
Am going to buy a stealth sub box and screw it onto the bottom i think so it sounds better

why did you run the wire across the top? surely you could have ran them under and along the shelf?

underneith are the wires going to the actual sub, so that needed to be on the top, and i take my parcel shelf out alot, as i lob arond a lot of gear, so i need to be able to disconnect the sub easily you see.
