if a x14xe was fitted with a fast road cylinder head? costing £600 for the head set up and ready to bolt to the block. any idea's?

£600 is extortionate TBH. No point in doing anything unless you bin the standard inlet.

it has a mantzel inlet janspeed manifold decat pipe remus centre section and a little cherry bomb backbox will it make a difference with the new head? i doesnt mater how much it is.

Yes. Better pickup and response throughout the rev range. Usually the gains are 10-15%

diy port and polish??? sounds nice to me... any specific way to do it? what cleaning compound would you use? just any help would do

If you dont know what your doing when port and polishing you can do more damage than its worth.

probably right best just to buy the one from race tech do a much beter job than me and i get new cams and valves . cheers

not worth 600quid. Why nt just fit cams to the head you have now? or better still drop a 1.6 16v engine in for £600

^ Agreed, spend the £600 on a 1.6 and work from there, thats the easiest 20bhp you'll make. IIRC you can bolt the parts you've already bought onto it to achieve a further 15-20bhp. Then there's more to come with headwork & cams etc. The 1.4 is only good for cheap tax IMO.
