I've got a 1.4 SRi, and I want to put a 1.2 box in it.

I've been told it's straight forwards but I wanted to know all the facts before I went ahead with it!

The gearbox

Any special one I need, or is any from a 1.2 ok? (Obviously it's got to be from a Corsa B)

The swap

What's involved? What needs to be done, step by step guide if anyone can be bothered!

Thanks

1.2 box is a shite box tbh, really long ratio, lookout for the closer ratio boxes. Im only clued up on the 2.0 boxes though, so I couldnt tell you which one mate.

Ahhhh my bad.

I've been told by a few people that a 1.2 gearbox fits straight on an SRi, but I don't know if there are different types of gearbox and I need a certain one. I also can't find a guide on how to remove the gearbox!

no point at all if you have an sri they have f13 boxes on them anyway putting a lower number box of a 1.2 like an f10 would probably die. whats up with the one thats on

Nothng wrong with it, I want to go faster without engine swaps, and still be able to say it's a 1.4

Obviously it's not going to last as long, but they boxes are only like £30 quid from a breakers anyway, so no big deal!

I just need to know if it'll fit, and how to do it.

In your opinion of course!?

I just want to know if it'll fit, not about ratios!

It's an 8v mate

it will fit fine but it wont make it any faster plenty more things you can do instead like getting a better cam in it and exhaust manifold

I know someone who fitted a Nova 1.2 box to his SRi, and it was beating 1.9 205 GTi's, so it must make it quite alot faster?

Cam & exhaust manifolds aren't £30 odd quid
