hp/compaq or a toshiba. bang for your buck have a look at the acer notebooks on your budget  
 
wifi comes as standard on 90% of new notebooks now 
 
stay away from the no name note books esp advent

I repair the odd notebook the last 3 all being advent all around 12-18 months old there just a bit to fragile for my liking 
 
sony notebooks your just paying for the name there not well built either 
 
acer had a bad rep aswell. but in the last year or so thay have got a lot lot better

if needed asap, go to PC, there's a compaq selling at 399 with Centrino Duo, 1024RAM DVD writer..It is white. 
 
If you can wait for 5-7 days, then Dell
