i just opened my coolant bottle and there is a heap of brown lumps. looks like a heap of shit. is this normal? before it was just brown liquid which i was told was ok.

Prolly all the oxidation in the coolant system from the Rad, might be best to flush it all out and change the coolan especially with winter comming up.

brown liquid, will probly be rust from rad...( haha, fad using big words - oxidation)

if its brown lumps it sounds like oil in the water :S.......similar to when you do short runs, then look at your oil cap...

it could have overheating issues. better to get it sorted sooner rather than later

just that the my top end is getting completly rebuilt with new water pump, oil pump, timing belt,valve seals, ported polished head, oil filter,spark plugs, gaskets,pulleys

and a new radiator if i need it

i had this when id used rad weld, maybe that was used at some point in its life? just a possibility. if you need a rad iv got a gsi one here with fan.

no need to replace the rad, just remove the cooland bottle and get all teh crap out and give the system a gooid flush through with clean water.

an aircon rad is a lot bigger (been fitting one today) but makes no difference to the running temp, just cools down a bit quicker.
