i have a nasty flat spot when the car heats up, bang on 1800 revs. i know my coolant temp sensor is a bit dodgy so was wondering if thats what is causing the flat spot??

If you know its dodgy then you may as well replace it regardless - only about a tenner from vaux when I changed mine (on a 1.4 8v)

a coolant temp sensor would not give you a flat spot, more to do with the air filter picking up warm air when you hit 1800 RPM.
maybe think about using a closed induction kit or the standard if you dont have one.
