want to convert my 1.2 8v to a gsi 1.6 16v

what will i need and how much would fitting cost? i knw some of you will just say buy a gsi but i am going to do it this way

Do you just wana change the engine or do you wana convert everything to be like a GSI?

basic engine swap but do i need to change gearbox, brakes etc

just buy a gsi. a lot easier and cheaper in the long run

im not guna buy a gsi as i said before so i just need advice on what i need and how much it will cost

engine, box, loom and ecu will cost about £400 for a good one. then you will need new brakes, astra 2 litre ones will do, about £50

then all the extra little bits will set you back about £100 for the conversion such as radiator, mounts, water pipes etc... then it will cost more to insure than a standard gsi as it will be classed as a modified car.

it will probably never run 100% correctly either, most conversions dont.

exactly. so as he said before, its a lot easier and even cheaper in some cases to buy a GSi

i finnishd mine this week,i have a sri b and converted to the gsi, its was just a sawp over for me, engine gearbox loom and ecu for £250, got a old vaux guy, to give me a hand with it, took my time and didnt rush it, and its workin fine, not a even a engine management light on!
