Control Panel/Admin Tools/Services

Maybe trying and start the print spooler service manually might help the situation

U got mcafee, or norton etc??

Usually a problem with their firewall blocking spool.exe , the printer service

Make sure the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service is running, and then try starting the Print Spooler service again.

Yes, I remembered that as I turned the computer off, couldn't be bothered to turn it on just to correct my post.
It's the only dependency that the Spooler has, so I'd go with the firewall option.
Off the top of my head (don't use norton anymore):
- Open the Personal Firewall config (right click the icon in the taskbar, Open Norton Internet Security. Goto Personal Firewall and then Configure).
- Goto Programs and see if "Microsoft Print Spooler" or a variation of it is listed.
- Click the arrow next to it and change it to Permit All.

Is it a hp printer? You have to have the printer disconected when you install the drivers. Easy way around it is to uninstall it (leave conected) in the device manager and then run the setup again.
