I've got a 1.6 Sport that's doing my head in. The last few days the ecu light keeps coming on, and on the way home from work tonight it came on and stayed on. Before I turned the engine off it sounded rough as feck. Any ideas on causes and cures?

got oil in it? done all the usual checks?

Im gonna do all the checks tomorrow when it's light. Gonna check the oil and water, but shy of that I'm lost. Is it gonna end up a garage job?

im not sure, you a member on migweb, they seem to know every little problem going, theres more members, more chance of a quicker answer

Right. The problem appears to be the EGR valve. The dealer wants £242 to replace it, and I'm reluctant to pay that much. I know a good mechanic so I think I'll go down that route...
