how do i do this? i think i read theres something you have to disconnect under the bonnet to get cable driven clocks out?

no....

there are 3 screws that hold the fascia around the clocks on 2 of them are roughly at the bottom of it at either side of the steerng wheel and the other is at the top of it...

when these are out remove the fascia.... then you will see another 2 screws at the bottom corners of the dials themsleves... remove these..

there is a clip at the top of the clocks push it up and pull the clocks towards you... get yer hand right in behind them and feel for the speedo cable...

at the top of the speedo cable there is another clip press it while again pulling the dials towards you the cable will pop off... then remove the dials the rest is the way... an you DONT need to remove the steering wheel either...

ive still to get mine in again..ooh!
no there easy enuf took out. its a metal clip thing at very top of cable needs to be pushed forward then just come out
