ok so i removed one rubbing strip and as i peeled it back i could see almost a white paint where it shud be black :S now i know this is just the paint dulling/fading as u can tell upclose it aint a respray... thing is how do i buff it up so its black again???

Spray the rubbing strip and refit.

ok, point acknowledged but i wud like to have it without them... someone mentioned a caramel wheel to buff it up aswell as take the vauxhall love juice off but another person said something like a g-2 solvent or something :S i dunno if he was on about restoring the paint or removing said love juice....

why can't it just be smooth.... :'( i wanna be euro

If its something on top of the paint then it can be removed, if the paint is damaged then the job is not so easy.

mate i took mine off the other day and mine didnt look anythin like that... i had black tape under the strip and that peeled off easy enough...that looks like u've stripped the paint away all together?

sorry to but in lads but i did the same to mine wif takin the strips off and mine ripped off but left this sticky foam shit behind it i just then ripped it off and jobwas a good one, boiling hot water also help to peel the shit off.

ok i really want these f*ckers off and atm its rather annoying the paint aint peeled off contrary to popular belief as there is no difference in the surface its just dull and that... here are some more pics... som1 with some bodywork exp. must hav a solution and my dear joff pls dont say paint them black and stick them back on lol....

i can peel the glue off but i am still left with the white dull paint....

Looks like the glue has eroded the top coat? You say its totally smooth?

Sounds a bit mad but try using some 1000 grit paper on it... be very careful not to go outside the lines so if it messes up u can put em back on again...

TRY BACKING IT, IF IT DOESN'T WORK ITLL HAV TO BE SPRAYED. BUY A NEW RUBSTRIPP AND PAINT IT, THEN FIT IT

It's a problem with the laquer mate, it's been dried out cos it's been under that glue. I had the same problem on mine. Use a bit of white spirit and wipe it GENTLY then use T Cut to finish it off. Then use loadsa rejuvinating polish like Auto Glym or summat. It's up to you how you get it off put thats what i did. But it is definatley a problem with the Laquer.
