sump had new gaskets when bottom end was rebuilt, i torqued all the bolts down correctly but i noticed it was dripping a bit of oil so i checked the bolts and they were all loose.
now i have tightened them up three times and it's starting to p!ss me off.
anyone had this problem? would lock-tight and re-torque fettle the little buggers? help .

Unfortunatly, welcome to part of the problem with XE's They all leak.

The only ones that haven't are the engines that have been drained and flipped upside down.

I suggest buying a drip tray, or chuck a pile of rags underneath.

C20XE sump leaking comes standard mate with XE's
there that bad you can buy a Specail Gasket from Cossvaux with stops it, BUT i am sure its just some Vauxhall part then get and add a few £££
could be a EcoTec 2lt 16v one but do not quote me on this, ask J100RSA i think he knows

You tried using a bit of loctite thread-lock on the sump bolts? I did it on my old 1.4 & cured it up no end!

hmmm i may get the cossvaux gasket and try that. i think it may have helped if i locktite'd them when had the block on the engine stand .

your meant to thread lock them anyway! They are only meant to be 6lb/ft!

The 'special' gasket is just the 8V baffle plate with one piece gasket. This costs about £15 from autovaux. Is probably only better because its much easier to fit, making sure its done properly.

I've got one to fit to my LET, but haven't yet. You might need to use shorter sump bolts as its thinner.

My supm leaks on my 1.4 8v. Im not bothered though, it gets and oil change every 1000 miles, because it goes in the top and out the bottom. Handy!

every vx ive looked at has a leaking sump and alot of the time the gearbox bottom plate is leaking too.

I noticed your old 1.4 was leaking a bit around the sump gasket, wasn't a lot, so just ignored it.

it never dripped though mike, the 2.0 is dripping like a gud un.

so is the gasket easy to change on the XE or should i put it into my local garage?

i'm sure the 8v one is rubber too, rather than cork,
dunno how much of a difference that makes, but supposedly this is better

you use the 2L 8v sup gasket

then put washers on the sump bolts and do them up tight and in the correct order, also a little RTV always helps things

Think the gasket your on about is 1 for a 2.0L 8v. You get the baffle plate as part of it. Cos its an alloy sump it warps, you could try havin it skimmed. I've done this B4 & its worked

So I call Autovaux and just ask for sump gasket and baffle exactly as required on 2 litre 8v? What is the engine code?

Thats on with the spacer, I need the GSi passenger side part as I broke an 8v SRi for those bits and they're different. GSi one is slightly longer reach from leg to the box as far as I can see.

I normally use both the corsa gearbox mounts & make up the o/s engine mount

Autovaux will know it as the 8v sump baffle and gasket.

Its one peice rubber gasket thats formed around and onto the baffle, making fitting much easier.

Dont over tighten them, it wont help and it will strip the threads!
