i have finally got the rocker cover gasket replaced on me 1.6 16v Gsi 80k miles

the oil leak from the engine bay seems to have stoped however it is still loosing oil!!

my only guess now is that it is burning it?
also, found oil in the cylinders were the spark plugs go??

i think the "Valve stem seals" and "Piston rings" need replacing, how much wud this cost??

and is this wat is likely to be wrong with it, wat else or most likely cud it be?????

my GSI burned like a complete sump a week of oil, only solution to stop it is a rebuild, stem seals, piston rings, my GSI engine is being re-built at the mo i get it back tuesday fingers crossed.
My re-build is costing about £1400 that included, lightenin the fly wheel, bigger pistons, rebore, completely balanced bottom end, ported and polished head, new every thing, reground crank the lot.
As long as you keep the oil topped up it wont do any damage really, might lose a bit of performance but thats it, as Kris said they do drink a bit anyway as standard

holy fcuk mate!!!

£1400!!! to fix a damn oil problem!!!

wats the main cause of the oil probs with the Gsi's??

a mate of mine has had a engine rebuild too on his gsi, vaux really fcuked up with Gsi's n their oil problems init!!!

my car is deffintaly burning the oil!
but nowere near the whole damn sump in a week man!

i have to top up between 1.5 to 3.5 litres a month, it depends if i rev high or redline it a lot during a month as i noticed it causes it to burn more oil????

greasemonkey, u could of got a healthy 2litre turbo put in for £1500-£2000 or at least 2litre red top engine for £1000-£1500!!
