if there the same model and make etc then there is no difference between them both apart from one sub uses a 4ohm voice coil the other a 2ohm voice coil. However, you will only find this useful if your putting subs in series or parallel to gain a certain combinded resistance of the subs and its usually with dual voice coiled subs.

Hope this helps mate

(the below advice is a guide presuming you amp can drive into a 2ohm impedance)

For single voice coil subs:

If you are wiring them to the same amp, wire 2 4ohm subs in parallel and this will bring the impedance down to 2ohms for maximum power.

If your wiring them to seperate amps, use 2ohm subs and directly connect them to the amps.

For dual voice coil subs:

If you are wiring them to the same amp, get 2ohm dual voice coils, and wire both coils in parallel on each sub. This will bring the impedance down to 1ohm per sub. Then wire the two subs in series which will take the impedance up to 2 ohms for maximum power.

If you are wiring to seperate amps, get 4ohm voice coil subs and wire each of the coils in parallel to bring the impedance down to 2ohms and connect directly to each amp.

Simple electronic theory dude, simple when u think about it.

Hope this helps

Well like visibleman said, its dependant on configuration.

As long as they are 2 or 4 ohm single coils then you want to be looking for a mono amplifier that puts out the total RMS of both subs for these configurations.

If you buy the 2 ohm versions you want an amp to handle the total RMS at either 1ohm or 4 ohm.

If you buy the 4 ohm versions you want an amp to handle the total RMS at 2 ohm.

Get a mono amp if possible as these are most efficient in these applications. They are also referred to as Class D amplifiers.
