when turning the ignition on the ECU(Engine Management) light doesn't come on so im presuming there should be a switched live somewhere for the ecu?

blue is coolant temp. in the footwell there are nine wires that should match 9 of the wires in the on the astra loom the others will be in engine bay.

woohoo finally got it running.... i had the wires connected right but we figured out that the switched live was missing. at the end of the loom was the remains of a black wire.. hooked this up and Chamone the engine started immediately

Was nice to hear the sound of the engine running after a week of bad weather and an assortment of problems.

Just got a couple a things to do before taking it out for a test spin...

Any ideas why it might idle at 1500rpm? possibly a leak in one of the air hoses?

could be coolant temp sensor causing the high idling. like an electronic choke apparently. should be on the side of your thermostat housing, the one with two wires.
try and give it a clean and check the connection, or they're about £18 from vaux.

thanks for that lee.

This one thick wire was actually Red/Blue
but yes its fuel pump i agree.

2nd plug (Green one) :
All of these 4 wires have already been connected as they matched to the loom on the corsa
However, there was also a 5th Black/Green wire
Not sure what this is but i guess its not needed.

ok thanks mate

Just 1 other thing then:

On the loom (Engine Bay Side) there is a big thick black wire which we have connected to the +ve terminal on the battery. Further down the loom there was a small black wire with nothing on the end, it was cut very short and had nothing on the end. We worked out that this must be for the switched +ve current. Is this right?

We ended up connecting a new piece of wire to the small black one on the loom and taking this back along with the loom into the car and connected it up to a Swiched live.

Does this sound right to you
