Ring them and ask them. If they do start the job and can't get access to to anything, they may leave it.

The spare isn't part of the test, so if its going for MOT leave your stuff in there.

And if they do break it, they will swear it was already like it when you took the car in

I have never had my spare looked at in any car or van I've owned when tested.

TYRES/WHEELS

Tyre condition
A failure with respect to tyre wear will result where:-
The grooves of the tread pattern are not at least 1.6mm throughout a continuous band comprising:
• Central 3/4 of the breadth of tread
• Entire outer circumference of the tyre.

Tyres must be correctly matched with regard to:
• Type
• Size
• Structure
• Location on the vehicle with respect to the axles.

Also examined:
• General condition of tyre
• Condition of valve

Tyres fail if they have serious cuts, bulges or other damage. The wear on the tyre is checked with a tyre tread depth gauge to ensure compliance. The tyres are examined to ensure that there is no fouling with any part of the vehicle.

Note:
The condition of the spare tyre is not part of the MOT.

There you go, like I said, the spare wheel does not come into the MOT.

I know for a fact the spare doesn't enter into the MOT test, if I had any doubts at all I wouldn't be debating it on here.
Take a look here for further proof. http://www.motuk.com/mottest.htm#information14

No probs Kerry, I'm not arguing anyway. Theres so many stories about the MOT what you can/cannot do etc and I don't begin to know half of it, its just that I do happen to know about the spare.
No doubt there are some examiners that might look at the spare, but regardless of the condition, its not a test item and can't fail for it.
