Some of you may already know, but couple of weeks back i bought myself a new motor........No not a vaux, but a 1996 (P1) 306 D Turbo S. Here are some spec's:

BHP: 118

Torque = Approx. 175lb/tq

0-60 = 8.8 sec

50-70 = 5.1 sec

Top Speed = 125mph (on the clocks with more to go!)

MPG = 40-45 urban. 50-60 on a run easily

Insurance grp 5! (only costing me £10 a month more than my 1.2 8v)

(and its got the usual, leccy sunroof, windows, mirrors, sport interior, CD changer, metallic pearle paint, front foggies etc all as standard). Although mine was a limited edition run of 400 in the UK, i think the normal D Turbo had alot of goodies too!)

its quite a car for a diesel! I took it up to a diesel tuning specialist in Ashbourne last week, and he adjusted the fueling for me, taking the power from 92bhp (std), up to around 118. Its now running about 18PSi boost, and a collins dump valve as well (which i have to say sounds Lush)

Even before the tune it was pretty rapid, but now its mental. In the wet it wants to spin in 1st, 2nd and 3rd when the blower kicks in! Where the car really excels is acceleration between 50->100mph.......as the torque is just mental. I've shown up quite a few corsa's already, even a little grey GSi who thought he'd cut me up on the M25 yesterday oh well.

I also had the pleasure of fitting a Piper slashcut oval back box to it at the weekend, which not only fitted perfectly and was of excellent build quality, but also sounds and looks the part, without being OTT. Highly recommend them to all u corsa boys lookin for a decent zaust. (loadsa different designs to choose, and all custom made, but takin out 2/3 days delivery).

Ok ok ok, i know its a diesel, but i had no other choice when i came to buyin a car, coz of the high miles i now travel to work. However, its pleasantly suprized me, being a hell of alot more comfy than the corsa and handles 10 times as good (Even comparing the std pug to mine when it was lowered 40mm on full kit, strut braces front and rear and WIDE 15"s), the pug wud run rings round it.

will post pics once i've cleaned the thing!

That spec is absolute donkey cock ,where did you get it... the DTurbo's are 1900cc engines that produce no where near 100bhp... and yer dreaming of 0-60 in 8.8 fella.... try 13 seconds or something

I think you'll find that is quite an acheivable time for this car with reletivly simple mods.

Why not read the post first mate. Says the cars fuelling and boost has been uprated, along with other minor adjustments, taking the power upto 118bhp.

If u do not believe me (which is fair enuff), i have the email address of the guy who did the tune. He also has a dyno print out And loads of other people who he has performed the tune up for.

But you are correct, the STANDARD power output is 92bhp, and 0-60 is normally 12.4sec

so a 25bhp increase has seen almost 4 seconds off your 0-60 sprint?

What modifications have been done?

Cyber - glad ur impressed! We agree on summat for once! . Nah, even tho urs does the 0-60 sprint in 8.7, i dont believe that in a straight line slug it would be that close, basically coz ur engine/gearbox set up is more designed for kinda sprinting etc. I unforunately have to make alot more gear changes, and have a smaller power band. However, 60+ it might be different.

erm, no offence but id piss on you mate.. 8.7 is tested with luggage, half a tank and an extra person by peugeot... the true time is about 7.7 ... 7.4 if you want to take EVO's testing of the car

with 170lb/ft torque, i expect off the line you would be damn quick, but being a diesel, you miss out on a fair bit if mid-range, which is where i find my Corsa is at its best.

yes but mate, unless u have driven a turbo diesel, or in fact any turbo motor it might be hard for you to understand. i'll try and explain.

The tune has NOT simply given me 25bhp in the same way it would on a petrol motor. It changes the whole acceleration/power/torque curve.

As standard the turbo only used to properly come in around 2.8k, but now with the fuelling uprated, i'e got turbo from around 1.5, meaning alot less gear changes and a larger power band, hence bring the 0-60 time down. The turbo also seems to keep up performance for longer in each gear (Till bout 4.3k now, where as it started to die at 4k before)

Maybe Kris TD will help explain the whole situation later

Basically, even though BHP has only increased by 25bhp, the whole way that power is used is different to standard, so the aspect of economy has shifted to performance, with power coming in at lower revs, turbo spinning up sooner, and allowing the 0-60 time to be much better

Sure, but whats the point in taking a diesel over 4k, yet i find mine pulls awesomely between 4k and 5.5k, somewhere a diesel never normally has to go, all the diesels power is made below 3k.

lol

I did not intend this to be about my car beating a pug 106 GTi or a corsa 1.6 16v sport, coz of course i wouldnt, but the corsa and maybe the pug wud definately get a shock if we both planted the accelerator from around 60mph
