Some of you may already know, but couple of weeks back i bought myself a new motor........No not a vaux, but a 1996 (P1) 306 D Turbo S. Here are some spec's:

BHP: 118

Torque = Approx. 175lb/tq

0-60 = 8.8 sec

50-70 = 5.1 sec

Top Speed = 125mph (on the clocks with more to go!)

MPG = 40-45 urban. 50-60 on a run easily

Insurance grp 5! (only costing me £10 a month more than my 1.2 8v)

(and its got the usual, leccy sunroof, windows, mirrors, sport interior, CD changer, metallic pearle paint, front foggies etc all as standard). Although mine was a limited edition run of 400 in the UK, i think the normal D Turbo had alot of goodies too!)

its quite a car for a diesel! I took it up to a diesel tuning specialist in Ashbourne last week, and he adjusted the fueling for me, taking the power from 92bhp (std), up to around 118. Its now running about 18PSi boost, and a collins dump valve as well (which i have to say sounds Lush)

Even before the tune it was pretty rapid, but now its mental. In the wet it wants to spin in 1st, 2nd and 3rd when the blower kicks in! Where the car really excels is acceleration between 50->100mph.......as the torque is just mental. I've shown up quite a few corsa's already, even a little grey GSi who thought he'd cut me up on the M25 yesterday oh well.

I also had the pleasure of fitting a Piper slashcut oval back box to it at the weekend, which not only fitted perfectly and was of excellent build quality, but also sounds and looks the part, without being OTT. Highly recommend them to all u corsa boys lookin for a decent zaust. (loadsa different designs to choose, and all custom made, but takin out 2/3 days delivery).

Ok ok ok, i know its a diesel, but i had no other choice when i came to buyin a car, coz of the high miles i now travel to work. However, its pleasantly suprized me, being a hell of alot more comfy than the corsa and handles 10 times as good (Even comparing the std pug to mine when it was lowered 40mm on full kit, strut braces front and rear and WIDE 15"s), the pug wud run rings round it.

will post pics once i've cleaned the thing!

Matt

read my sig

Ur sig has no relavance to my 1.9 DT. I feel i may have to send you the rolling road print out!

PGTF with your crap times. while your power figure is a true estimation of what can be done. I doubt that 25hp will increase your 0-60 my so much

my 306 2.0 hdi is 95bhp standard so 118bhp on a tuned diesel is absolutely possible!

I thought a turbo man would understand this better. This is not the same as giving a petrol car 25bhp, where it basically just adds to the power you recieve at high revs. -> But please also pay reference to the 30+lb/trq increase as well that was achieved. (std 142lb)

I dont no if u have driven a Pug with the D8A 1.9 DT engine in, but u will see as standard that the engine are very dyer(sp) as standard until around 2.5-2.8k. Then the turbo comes in with an almighty whack till around 4k-nice to have, but pretty useless all the same.

Now, since i had the fuelling and boost uprated, i've got boost all the way from 1.5k to 4.2k, meaning that rather than having to cog swap all the time to stay with in the small power bank, i can stay in gear alot longer. This in gear time has MASSIVELY increased in 2nd and 3rd, where i can pull low down all the way to the red line nearly, which is where the turbo now drops off (very suddenly).

The 0-60, has therefore been decreased by a very large amount. When i first drove it away from the garage, my mouth dropped as i couldnt believe the difference. It now feels like drivin a totally different car.

Matt

The HDi's have even more scope for performance tuning. The guy who did mine, can supply an imported product called a power stick, which simple plugs in, inline with ur ECU. Gives 25bhp+ instantly.

Got everything right there

Erm little bits and bobs probably, not too much tho, coz i like my cars subtle now. Probably go for a set of GTi 6 cyclones, GTi skirts, eccosse grille and get an uprated intercooler.

U done much to urs?

Try the flask of tea idea. People may think ur geeky, but the tea's at the tea huts are minging, and it really warms you up. Goes just nice after a dooby

yeah u shud see now, coz the fuelings being turned up, the amount of smoke that comes out if u plant it below 1.5k, coz the boost isnt there to clear it up. I'll try not to suffocate u 2 tho! lol proper oil burner

no I can see that you do not understand. even if you get 30lb ft extra at 2000rpm that does not make an extra 25hp. now while this mod will have improved the power and the performance of your car. I seriously doubt that it has managed to knock 3.5s off your 0.60. 10-10.5s yes sub 9s no. just wake up and smell the coffee
