i need some fuse wire that is rated at 100amps, but ive only found any 30amp stuff, if i twist 3 strands of the 30amp together, will that be the same as 90amp fuse wire, or is that just being silly?

Nah, it will work. If the pressure on the ends is all the same you should be ok.

Yup - im a sparky - i know these things.

Take a ring main for example. Its only wired in 2.5mm (rated at 22A) but the fuse/breaker is rated at 32A - simply for the fact that a ring main is doubled up with cable.
