can you not like get a cross over thing to split the kind of bass you want. or is it gonna be too much air moving about

If you have two different amps, one for the two 15s and one for the 12 then you could set the variable crossovers on each amp so that the 15's only got say under 60hz and the 12's got everything under say 90hz. That way the 15's would only get the really low notes which they are good at and the 12 would get the higher notes which tend to be faster. That might work or am i talking bollocks?

Please correct me if that is utter crap, just a thought i had

i'm not sure, i did think of mixing sub sizes for my install but i looked through all my mags and on internet at installs and no one mixes sub sizes so didn't in the end. Got two 12's which everyone reckons is the best of both. to be honest they do seem to perform damn well with all bass notes so i'm glad i didn't mix sizes.

i have 2 12's but 2 15's and 1 12 will seem abit 2 heavy for the 12's maybe one 15 and 2 12's...all sealed.
if i was doin this I'd choose 2 alpine type r's and a JL 15.

Two tens and one fifteen would be LOADS better. Crossover the tens at 105hz lowpass and 55hz highpass in a mid to large box (you will either need a good cossover for this OR two crossovers), then run the fifteen at 55hz lowpass.
As for crossover slopes you'd be better with 24db but 12db should suffice. If you put the tens in a small box I think you will find them too peaky and it could start screwing your mid-bass, so put them in mid to large to give a good flat reponse.
As for the fifteen as it is playing the LOW LOW's then maybe look into a BIG ported box and tune it LOW so the woofer does not unload easily. You will need to play with the phasing and some time-allignment wouldnt go amiss but as mentioned it could cost a lot for all the processing required.

Personally i have NEVER been a fan of mixing sub sizes, im not saying it cant be done but with the proper crossovers and setting up it could work. If you properly enclose a pair of 12's and feed them enough juice you would get VERY good results without the hassel and headache.
