what u mean infra red? wireless?? lol no.

you could snap part of the laptop to make it work like that, but then there is cooling and access for the rest of it, think morel logically.

i was gonna put a 10.4" screen in the dash a few months back, but had a supply problem on the screens, so got a different one instead, smaller tho. Want a big screen now to go in the boot.

most laptop screens have the actuall controler for the screen built into the graphics card, it wouldnt work properlly because of resolutions etc.

^ It can now be achieved with alot of modification. It involves a composite to VGA powered converter than converts the signal to vga and resolution to 1024x768.

You also need the schematic for the laptop it came from which gives you pinouts ect.

yea, laptop screens are possible its been done many times, ive seen a truck in the states that had one built into the dash, but it was powered from a pc so slightly different, but still required some work.
However, pc tft screens may be possible. The power isnt a problem because most of them are 12v, with an external 240v AC to 12v DC power supply, its getting a signal to them. However, like austin said, you can get composite to X/VGA converters (people use them for game consoles etc) and there about 40 odd quid
I did have a crazy idea ages ago to put a whole lappy screen in the corsa (rotated 90o to portrait), running from a silent pc in the boot. From the screen i could control heater settings, listen to music, watch films etc etc. But the work involved made it abit of a bastard to do so i gave up on it. But it would be interesting if someone tackled something like this
