when i paint my exterior door handles how to i remove the handle bit from the surround.

u have to file the metal rod down where it has lumps in it, ull c when u look at it! so it slides out then when u put it back make sure u retap it or handle may fall off. i just opened my handles up with a bit of wire, looks top notch an saves loadsa hasle!!
