Might be a better watch when an official video is released. The video clip in the link is pretty shit.

Not knocking this 'record' but Michael Dunlop set a 133 average from a STANDING START, Mark Higgins has managed 128 from a flying start...

Shouldn't even be comparing the two at all.

Think of the distance Higgins covers over from the start line before the bike is even up to the same speed...

Indeed the bikes are still further ahead than the 30sec different suggests, largely in part to the standing/rolling start issue.

That said, the Subaru is a one-off car which is being developed just as a showcase for this time of year. Who knows how much quicker it would be if it was part of a competitive development race.

Watch his 2014 one

http://youtu.be/t7gmbQ8KxM4

It's impressive to watch how he trusts the car completely

Agree the bikes are more impressive but the speeds he achieves are frightening in some parts

This Subaru is essentially a Group B 2016 Rally Car, and it's ace. I'm not aware of anybody else lapping it in a car like this, not sure how Subaru have managed to get permission to do it!

I don't think IOM would never sanction a competitive (car) event, as the collatoral damage to houses/people/telegraph poles of cars going off is far higher than a biker smearing himself down a pub wall.

Permission because of sponsorship i believe

Also gets people interested in the TT who are not bike enthusiasts
