In April everyone was made up to the 7.20 national wage, recently everyone in my work has had a 2.5 percent rise apart from myself as I was moved up to the 7.20 everyone else above the he 7.20!! the boss is classing this as my wage rise? What's people's thoughts on this? By law I had to be moved up the the 7.20 so therefore I should be initiald to the 2.5 too surely?

No one is entitled to a pay rise in the work place above minimum/living wage. (Not sure that is the right phrasing, but you get my drift)

Unless of course your contract says otherwise. I know some cover inflation every year.

Cost in minimum wage is to reflect the inflation therefore its been included in my opinion.

In all honestly depends on your role and what your piers and similar organisations are getting paid.

I dont get a 2.5% increase every year

I doubt there's anything that says you have to get a 2.5% pay rise, but might be worth mentioning it to HR incase they have made an error. Do you have an appraisal which it may have been mentioned in?

Your not entitled to anything other than the minimum wage.

I'd be more concerned as to why your wage is below everyone else's..... Would indicate your either lazy, useless or have less experience than most

Where do you work? Even Mcdonalds/Tesco pay more than the minimum wage nowadays.

Don't worry mate, I got a 'pay rise' but because of the increase in national insurance and tax I'm now actually worse off. Thanks Tories

Weirdly I'm in the same boat.

Got about 3%, but taking home less now than before. Must be something to do with the tax threshold.

Look on the bright side, that's only £4,000 taxable income in a 37.5 hour week.
