bread goes stale faster when cold. to preserve bread you should freeze it and defrost half an hour before use.

TBF, all food packaging will tell you how to store it and you should follow that not what people on a forum think.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

It used to be made from discarded water from the Cheese making process which is why it needed to be chilled, I'm not sure if this is still true?

My general rule of thumb is if its plant, contains any kind of meat or dairy its kept in the fridge.

Any kind of sauce or condiment is also kept in the fridge once opened.

As for bread, that goes manky in the fridge.

My missus puts flour in the freezer for a few days after we've bought it to kill bacteria or something ? Her Nan did it so she does it, no idea if there is any truth in it though

Does your misses not realise that freezing bacteria doesn't not kill it?

It does kill some, but not all.

Generally it just stops multiplication.

Maybe she means the tiny bugs that are sometimes found in the flour and can quickly multiply

Freeze Drying will kill bacteria, freezing to sub-arctic temperature swill kill *SOME* bacteria, the average home freezer will kill pretty much no bacteria, the moment its defrosted the bacteria will wake up and start reproducing..
