It isn't so much that cars are designed to fail at xxx miles, but all the testing is done to simulate 10 years/150,000 km of use. With weight and cost becoming more and more important along with the heavy use of CAE, getting parts to just pass any 'vehicle lifetime' testing will be more common.

Mileage doesn't really put me off as such but it does massively affect resale. That 190k 205 gti I had was a bastard to sell. Was a solid tidy example but no1 wanted to take a gamble on it. Current 95 Aero is on 152k but has great history and I don't think I will have bother shifting it.

Gf is 1 of those nonces who thinks a car will automatically fall to bits at 100k even though her mk2 Focus is on 109k lol.

So ended up getting a 330d, absolutely love it. it's on 142k and other than feeling like it needs balance and alignment it drives better than my 90k Megane did.

Pics once I've given it a clean, dark grey e90 manual. Chuffed tbh

Washed the cars today

Found a bit of lacquer peel in a few places on the front bumper so did think about finding an msport bumper, but seeing as the wheels could do with a refurb on all the cars I'll probably just get it repainted.

Also did my first mod today. It had some dodgy locking ebay special valve caps so i deleted them and put some normal black ones on.

Really happy with it, done about 1200 miles so far, first tank it averaged 46mpg with me having a fair play with it

Nice mate. I like those alloys, nice and chunky.

Never used to like the e90 as I thought the front end was ugly, but it's grown on me over the years.

Kek

Yeah agree Jambo, do like the estates though and drove one but it didn't have the same feel hence going for the saloon. Was also only a 320d so not as nippy.
