We have some meru waps that I plan to attach on the ceilings, they come with metal back brackets designed to be screwed into the wall or ceiling, just thought to save drilling holes everywhere would there be any issues with attaching the bracket using some strong sticky pads, the waps aren't exactly heavy...?

Personally I'd drill and screw them in. The unpredictability of sticky pads would worry me somewhat.

I don't think its the weight you would need to worry about but actually heat. Although they won't generate to much heat them selves, after a period of time the glue will begin to degrade and should you get a heat wave, it will simply fall off.

Errm, wtf? If it's going on a plasterboard ceiling it should be done using plasterboard fittings. Sticky pads imagine if that came down on a child!

Sticks like shit. If you ever want to glue anything that's the stuff. Wouldn't trust sticky pads they always let go..

Same thing applies to smoke detectors ect. I thought my fire angels were light enough to no nails to the roof but it still greeted me on the floor when I got home one day several months later.

Why not the ceiling?

Saying that, at the last school i worked, we use to bolt the WAPs up in the rafters above the false ceilings otherwise the little scrotes would smack the shite out of them if they were in reach

Just make sure the patch cable is short enough so that if the pads fail it'll just dangle down

Sorry wasn't aware it was a domestic dwelling. Doesn't apply there. Only in rented accom, public areas, commercial etc. places where you a have a system and panel, not the 9v ones. it's baif or something like that that produce fire alarm regs. I checked with the fire alarm engineer in work to check I wasn't chatting shit haha.

Edit: baif don't produce the regs they enforce them if you want, similar to Nic, elecsa etc apparently

They still sell plastic boards but if you install one of those your not inline with amendment 3
