Every now and again like on sunday on top gear peugeot feature with the 205 gti I fancy an old school hatch

Something about a tidy one I find really appealing. Couldnt do it at the momemt as I have no garage to keep one in but in the future I would love to get one.

My favorites are:

205 gti

Corsa Gsi (for back in the day values )

Would imagine something done properly and well maintained would hold value too

Question is which one takes your fancy?

I have a massive hankering for a Series 2 Escort RS Turbo.

My favourite 'Classic' Hot Hatch.

Something about a smoke grey gsi, has a classic look these days, i can see them climbing in value.

If you get something thats already a classic you either have a hard time finding something half decent or you end up paying a collectors price.

I picked a corrado, was nearly 9yrs ago now. (it will be a classic one day, always been quite rare, they aren't too expensive to fix and run. I think they are a beautiful shape.

I don't feel anything for my audi A3, its just boring, feels lame to drive, i couldn't really care less about it, its pleasing having a car you love imo

I think the CTR will be worth holding onto if it ticks your boxes.

Well I bought a Corsa GSi because I loved mine, is never going to be known as one of the best of the era but they are currently reasonably cheap compared to Nova's / Astra GTE's / Pug 205's etc but not many left which I guess means I shouldn't lose any money on mine (not that I plan on selling).

Fancied another 106 GTi but wanted a Corsa GSi since I saw my first one as a 13 year old paper boy

Nice and cheap to run too, £20 gave me half a tank of fuel and it costs £170 a year to insure on a classic policy

Golf Mk1 & Mk2 GTi - Mk2 being the 16v or Rallye
Astra Mk2 GTE
Corolla Twin Cam 16
Corrado VR6
BMW E30 325 Sport - Don't care it was cool
Renault 5 Turbo
Renault 19 16V
Fiat Punto Turbo ie

Are the ones I think of right now. Used to be loads of standard Astras, Golfs and the like done up like their sporty counterparts.

Footman James.

Limited miles policy, don't occur any NCB as far as I know but at that price I don't really care.

I would say if you do go for a classic hot hatch, try not to use it daily. That was 1 of the main reasons I sold my 205 Gti. Using it daily removes most of the fun factor.

Loved my RS Turbo and am currently saving for another one.

Also like Fiesta MK1/MK2 XR2, Fiesta RST, Pug 309 GTi, Astra MK1 GTE

Does the old stuff last better over there with the better weather or is it all as rusty as it is over here?

They last ages usually, depends how close to thesea you are but they usually blow up before they rot.
The GSi I just scrapped was like new underneath, even the spring on the rear beam was still yellow as new.The only rust on it was where the paint had been chipped.

I've always wanted a nice clean mk2 golf gti 16v. Had to be the big bumper model tho. Waited a while before I had the balls to buy one

Gonna be a rebel and try run it as long as possible without a front plate, purely because I think it looks better.

What I said about people driving base models made to look like something else - A lad I worked with when I was an apprentice had a Mk3 Escort 1.1 with these wheels and later put them on a 1.1 Fiesta Popular!
