I've never had winter tyres, but I've had very little mandatory mileage to do over winter in the past few years.

A few of us here pay quite large amounts to gain performance through our tyres, so I don't find it hard to comprehend why we may want to optimise our performance in the cold weather too.

You can do a trackday on Linglongs without dying, but we still go out and buy R888's. You can drive in winter on summer tyres without dying, but we can gain better performance - so why not?!

Winter tyres begin to fuck them selves at anything over 7 degrees... We don't exactly live in an arctic tundra..

There has been maybe 1 / 2 years in the last 10 where winter tyres would have been a genuine benefit

Took some pictures of it.

Needs few bits doing soon. Full service, some decent tyres. Brake pads. Possibly a clutch and a remap.

They would of been a benefit to me when it snowed this year. The car was appalling on PSS

Had mine 4.5 years and not once have I needed winter tyres. Maybe I have one of those super rare BMW'S which don't crash everytime it goes around a bend?

I get Robins point here Ben. You don't run your Z4 on Linglongs or Fulda tyres do you? You don't need your Vredestein or Goodyear etc, but they're better than the Linglongs.

Winter tyres are the same.

I've had generic tyres on cars before. I just don't want shitty names on my sidewalls.

Got away with it, not a mark on the car. I reckon the precision steering of this car meant i was able to get it right under centre of car.

Spent the morning under the missus' Leon - replaced centre section and backbox, then also did rear shocks and springs, rear ARB drop links and front discs and pads. A productive morning!

Have a nosey at tyres when you're next in a big car park, look for the tight fuckers who buy winter tyres to save money and then run them through the summer, the side walls will look like they've been raped by a gang of tarantulas.

They will be swapped back when the weather returns and if they do fuck up i'll buy some more not hard really to comprehend.

Much like buying a £15 smart watch i'd rather just buy an apple watch that works. winter tyres are proven to work so Ive got them

That is pathetic

It's funny how manufacturers are pushing the boundaries of legality with regards to front fog lights these days.

I can't see anyone moaning about some fog lights coming on for 10 seconds before you get in the car
